The Lions officially worked out seven free agents on Friday including LB Akeem Ayers, TE Jace Amaro and TE Gavin Escobar.
- The other players who worked for Detroit include LB Andrew Gachkar, TE Cory Harkey, TE David Johnson and LB Spencer Paysinger.
- The Lions hosted also WR Andy Jones for a visit on Friday.
Ayers, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Titans back in 2011. He was later traded to the Patriots in return for a 2015 sixth-round pick.
The Rams signed him to a two-year, $6 million contract with $2.75 million guaranteed back in March of 2015. However, he was cut loose by the team in September of last year.
The Colts signed Ayers to a contract just a few days after he was released, but elected to move on from his this past weekend.
In 2016, Ayers appeared in all 16 games for the Colts and recorded 21 total tackles, two sacks, one interception, and two pass defenses.
We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
